Convert iPhone MOV videos to universal MP4, free, instant, no upload.
Open Video ConverterMOV is Apple's QuickTime container, used by iPhones, iPads and Macs. It is excellent, but Windows apps, Android phones and many upload forms expect MP4. The good news: most iPhone MOV files already contain H.264 video, the same codec MP4 uses, so converting is usually just a rewrap of the existing stream into an MP4 container, which is near-instant and lossless.
When the MOV already uses H.264, SammaPix copies the video stream straight into MP4 with zero quality loss (a remux, not a re-encode). Only HEVC or exotic sources are transcoded, using a high-quality setting.
| Format | File Size | Quality | Compatibility | Use Case |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| MP4 | Small to Medium | High (H.264) | Universal | Sharing everywhere, web, social |
| MOV | Medium | High | Apple-centric | iPhone capture, editing |
| WebM | Small | High (VP9) | Modern browsers | Web embedding |
| MKV | Medium | High | Players, media servers | Multi-track archives |

Does converting MOV to MP4 lose quality?
Usually not at all. When the MOV contains H.264 video, SammaPix copies it into an MP4 container without re-encoding, so the result is identical in quality. A re-encode only happens for HEVC or unusual codecs, and then a high-quality setting is used.
Is it really instant?
For a typical iPhone MOV with H.264 video, yes. No frames are re-encoded; the existing video and audio are placed into an MP4 wrapper, so even a multi-minute clip converts in well under a second.
Is my video uploaded to a server?
No. The whole conversion runs in your browser with WebCodecs. Your file never leaves your device, which is faster and fully private.
Why won't my MOV play on Windows or Android?
MOV is Apple's container. The video inside is often standard H.264, but those platforms expect MP4. Converting to MP4 fixes playback everywhere without changing the actual video quality.
